Program

Providing Bibliometric Services in the Medical Libraries: Why, what, and how?

The need for publication analysis services is growing rapidly across a range of medical libraries. Such services aim to provide evidence-based applications to assist researchers in determining the nature of their research influence and to support administrators in evaluating the scientific research of laboratories and research groups. This MLA CE course will provide intellectual discussions and hands-on practice related to bibliometric analysis focusing on three subtopics:

  1. Overview: What is publication analysis?
  2. Benchmarking individuals and research groups: Citation impact metrics, and
  3. Analyzing and visualizing collaboration and topic networks
The instructors will encourage discussion among attendees and lead them through a range of exercises to build their knowledge and skills in this area.

Instructors: Ya-Ling Lu and Christopher Belter
